    The Podcast of the Year concept is wonderful. I lived in San Francisco for many years and there is a fantastic radio station there called KFOG (www.kfog.com). Every day they play a segment called 10@10 in which they feature 10 great songs from one great year. What makes it absolutely delicious is that they intersperse TV ads and news clips from the same year. It makes for a wonderful jaunt down memory lane. You can listen online if you can catch it live in your time zone.

    For your podcast, I love the news and events that you describe. Perhaps you could also set up a call-in number where people could record specific memories of that particular year. The best clips could be interspersed with the songs on the podcast.

    For me, 1976 was the year that my family and I moved from Canada to the US. We arrived on July 1st. Four days later was the US Bicentennial celebration on July 4. If felt like one hell of a party and a very warm welcome to my new country.

    The music of 1976 is still the best. Some of my favorite songs of that year include:
    * Bohemian Rhapsody
    * Convoy by C.W. McCall (corny but entertaining)
    * The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy

    Keep up the great shows,
    Heather

    One of my all time favorites is the song ‘Gone’ by Joey Heatherton. Its one of her only hits, but she was very popular on TV in the seventies. Thanks for your shows, keep up the good work…

    Also, you should play some songs from BZN, who are relatively unknown in the US, but are one of the better and more unappreciated bands, and should be given more airtime, in my opinion.

    Thanks for listening, as I will be listening to your podcasts….
    Fran

    Hi Karin!

    Two of my all-time favorite songs came from 1976 (I’m born about 30 years too late!) I’m a huge fan of both Elton John and Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, so “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” by Elton John and Kiki and “December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night)” by the Four Seasons would be my choices to include! They are real good feel good songs that always put a smile on my face!

    I’m looking forward to the podcast, as always!
